HIDE ‘N SEEK

June 24, 2010

it was a rather hot day at the park and we didn’t have much time to do this, but we had a ton of fun with these little guys. we wanted to keep it genuine and not ask the kids to do anything out of the ordinary so i wasn’t sure what we’d come out with – if anything at all. it was father’s day weekend and we thought it would be very fitting to tell the story of a child’s pureness, joy and innocence through cinema.

since they were playing hide ‘n seek, we thought it would make for a neat entry for a short film challenge our friends at stillmotion are hosting. you can check out their post and other top entries on their education blog. i would love to hear your thoughts on this piece.

last week we traveled to yosemite for a wedding and got to spend a few days taking in all mother nature had to offer. there was no cell phone reception and very limited internet access, making it ideal for long hikes and killer photo ops. we stopped off the side of the main road to grab a few images of the burnt landscape and to say it was breathtaking is an understatement. you could look out into the wildness and it’s just miles and miles of charred terrain.

we also stopped at groveland, a teeny tiny town, for lunch at the old iron door saloon. it was a neat place to visit, but certainly didn’t feel very californian. there were dollar bills nailed to the ceiling, a blowfish hanging above the bar and very western-like wooden plank sidewalks.

on our way back to san fran we drove by a bunch of cows and ray just had to stop for photos. he’s into everything bovine (steak, milk and cheese) so there’s no way this city boy would pass up a chance to get up close to them. they look just as happy as those ‘happy cows come from california’ commercials don’t they?

and lastly i leave you with our stop at the san luis reservoir. pulling off the side of the freeway seemed to be a theme for that weekend so we couldn’t pass this up. the scenery, the colors…unreal. we were getting pretty hungry, but managed to squeeze a quicky timelapse of the crazy clouds roaring through the mountain pass.

OPEN HOUSE

February 8, 2010

last week we attended an open house event for some of our friends in the industry and it was a smashing night. i always have a camera by my side so i shot a few photos from that night to share here on the blog. the team from sky boy productions put the event together and jack from tmmpro rocked the room with awesome lighting.

the talented euri from fleuretica took care of the gorgeous details and floral pieces that made the place glow. come on, mason jars, the flowers and that awesome ‘love’ sign above the yummy goodies. lovely indeed.

the most scrumptious, yummy cakes by none other than cakesbythepound and the best macaroons by joie pastisserie. i admit it, i must have had at least two pieces each. so. incredibly. delicious. we also got to chat a bit with caroline tran in her cute new office.

it was jammed packed in there with a couple hundred folks, but they still managed to send us home with a big swag bag full of coolness. m&m’s, cotton candy, calendar and a ceremony magazine just to name a few. guess what i’ve been nibbling on all last week while editing? : )

it’s always nice to see our friends outside of weddings, but we love to see them at events as well. if you’re ever in need of their services, these awesome people are wonderful to work with. thanks for a fun-filled night!

VINTAGE LOVE

January 11, 2010

look what ray found – an old canon slr film camera with a 28mm lens! surprisingly, it’s in decent shape and the focus ring still works. there were a few boxes of fuji film next to it, expired of course, so i’ll have to buy some new film to try out the camera but isn’t this so cool? this doesn’t quite qualify as vintage per say, but i love all things old and in the fast changing technological world we live in today – this is pretty darn old.
