Karen * Joe | Married!

July 30, 2009

I left this wedding feeling warm and fuzzy inside. It’s not that I don’t feel that way after other weddings, but this one was especially touching – more to come on that later. The day started out early. really early. I met up with the girls at 5am and before I knew it the day was over. You know how they say time flies when you’re having fun? Yeah. That’s me at every single wedding we shoot. Here are a few teasers for now.

Congratulations Karen + Joe!

Fun stuff! Last Friday Ray and I headed down to San Pedro to meet up with Mary and Dragos for their engagement session at the Point Fermin Park lighthouse. I’ve never been there before but it’s right by the beach overlooking the ocean with awesome views. Fortunately we all made it out alive without getting blown away because it was really, really windy there!

After that we headed up the hill to the Korean Friendship Bell for some more killer photo ops. Part of me wished we brought our cinema gear that day, but we wouldn’t have had enough hands (or time) to properly cover everything. I love how easy going M & D were – the wind was absolutely out of control, but they just kept rolling with the punches.

We had a ton of fun. I always love e-sessions because they’re more casual and intimate with just the two of them (and us!). The wedding day can sometimes be hectic, but a couple of hours on a lazy summer afternoon is almost always a winner.

I’m a bit backlogged at the moment and in the middle of a couple of big edits. J + D and W + J, we have not forgotten about you. More to come later!

Julie contacted me way back in December of last year, but due to a series of unfortunate events on both our parts we had to schedule a whopping four times! Finally, after half a year we were able to meet up for their photo session at a nearby park. I’ve been meaning to get some teasers up on the blog for a while now, but haven’t gotten to it until now – more to come later!

JOYCE * RAY | MAUI

July 12, 2009

We went to beautiful Maui for our honeymoon last month and had. a. blast. The photographers and cinematographers in us wouldn’t let us go anywhere without a camera so we brought the new mkII and did a bit of shooting. Since we were on vacation, we didn’t want to lug a bunch of gear so we shot everything on one lens. It’s amazing how shooting with restrictions can force you to really think about the shots you want. Here’s the short cinema reel – a la Patrick from SM and Alton Brown : )

We met Joann and William through a great mutual friend who is also a RayJoyce bride. Their wedding was held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry and despite the scorching Summer heat, we grabbed some golf carts and had one heck of a photo shoot. Here are some teasers from the day.
