About a week or so ago Ray woke me up early in the morning and told me about a contest from Cinevate. For those of you in the industry, Cinevate is an awesome company located up in Thunder Bay that makes innovate products that give cinematographers the tools they need to achieve the filmic look they want. Well known for their 35mm adapters, Cinevate also offers other products such as their buttery smooth slider that we use in many of our shoots.
The contest is a promo for their new dslr rig and requires contestants to build their own rig out of either recycle materials or food products – then submit it as a 30sec clip.
Being the foodies that we are, I knew I had to use food in there somewhere. I had a few minutes to burn while waiting for a project to render and started sketching out a storyboard. Before you know it, I was flipping our kitchen inside out to find materials to use. Here are a few stills of me building the rig.
