About a week or so ago Ray woke me up early in the morning and told me about a contest from Cinevate. For those of you in the industry, Cinevate is an awesome company located up in Thunder Bay that makes innovate products that give cinematographers the tools they need to achieve the filmic look they want. Well known for their 35mm adapters, Cinevate also offers other products such as their buttery smooth slider that we use in many of our shoots.

The contest is a promo for their new dslr rig and requires contestants to build their own rig out of either recycle materials or food products – then submit it as a 30sec clip.

Being the foodies that we are, I knew I had to use food in there somewhere. I had a few minutes to burn while waiting for a project to render and started sketching out a storyboard. Before you know it, I was flipping our kitchen inside out to find materials to use. Here are a few stills of me building the rig.

NO ONE ELSE BUT YOU

August 28, 2009

It makes me so happy when I see our couples taking a moment for themselves during the wedding day. The big day is all about them, but sometimes it’s so easy to get all wound up in the must do’s and must have’s that they forget to enjoy the day and each other’s company. I came across this shot Ray got of Karen & Joe right after their first look and I just had to share it here.

When you got your other half, everything else fades to a blur…

JOANNA * TOMMY | SURROUNDED

August 25, 2009

A day filled with lots of life, lots of laughter and a ton of love. As we were setting up for their lovely ceremony at the Fullerton Arboretum, it hit me again why I love filming weddings so much. If you’ve ever met Joanna + Tommy, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Both of them are awesome people who have huge hearts for their friends, family and each other. It was quite captivating to watch them be surrounded by so many loved ones who were all truly happy to celebrate their big day with them. It was particularly touching when I looked down at the lcd screen during the processional to see the groom fighting the tears as he saw his bride coming down the aisle.

Thanks for sharing your day with us.

PCH ROAD TRIP

August 24, 2009

We spent a few days up in norcal earlier this month with a couple friends and had a smashing time. The four of us headed up PCH and stopped at several points along the way to enjoy the pacific. There’s just something about the ocean that’s so captivating.

It was very windy, but this spider web held up very well.

I apparently like the wind. Ray caught this shot of me enjoying myself as I took it all in – I look a bit silly, but it was worth it. Nature at its best.

NEMO * LOVE

August 20, 2009

Animals fascinate me. I love going to the zoo and can stay there for hours. In the summer heat, it’s nice to spend some time in the aquarium to get away from the heat and learn a little, or a lot, about the mysterious creatures of the sea. I didn’t want to leave the jellyfish exhibit – they. are. so. cool!
