jackie + brian are marathon runners, in more than one way too. yes they do run marathons and have quite a few under each of their belts, but their relationship also follows the same path. they met twelve years ago. not two or three or five. twelve. and after all that time, it’s almost uncanny how close and in tune they are with each other. at one point in the morning, jackie had her back to the walkway and said she could feel brian walking past her and just as she said that, he did. there was over a decade of friendship built into their wedding and it’s so amazing to see it unfold.

some couples are exactly like each other and others are polar opposites. these two are different, yet similar at the same time. family means a lot to both of them and you can see that throughout the day. jackie wrote a special note to her dad and started the reception with not the traditional first dance, but the father and daughter dance. brian’s late father was the ceo of an airline and they honored him with the first seat at the ceremony, which had a model airplane on it. his step-dad officiated the wedding and during their vows, they spoke about how excited they are to be starting their own family together. but they are also quite different as well – jackie’s sparkling personality has her laughing throughout the entire morning to relieve the anxiety while brian was calm, collective and quiet. thank you so much for sharing your day with us so we can share it with everyone here.

when we met jasmine and hao last year we chatted up a storm about their wedding. given their excitement about having us there for both photo+cinema, they provided quite the energy and backdrop on that day. when we show up at the four seasons beverly hills that morning we were so warmly welcomed by all the girls in the bridal suite. if you’ve met jasmine, you know exactly what i mean. she has such a vibrant personality and i think so much of that comes through in this piece as well as in their photos.

they knew they wanted to see each other before the ceremony and do a first look but didn’t know where. we went ahead and covered the preps thinking we’ll find a place later. and then it hit us. we looked over the balcony twelve stories above the garden and there it was. i was a bit nervous about hanging a camera so high up in the air to get a first look shot, but in true rayjoyce fashion we did. and i’m so incredibly glad we did.

PHOTOBOOTH AWESOMENESS

March 18, 2010

aren’t photobooths awesome? we usually see everyone having a blast with them at weddings, but often don’t get to it until it’s too late and they’ve packed up for the night. last week we were in vegas for WPPI and one of the industry events had a photobooth so we jumped in and had some fun.

it feels like we just got back from our trip up north and to the desert, but we’ll be packing again for another week adventure out of the studio soon. more to come on that later. in the meantime, we’re getting some things ready to share with you here on the blog from a photo session and a wedding earlier this year – stay tuned!

ON THE ROAD

March 6, 2010

we’re currently up in norcal preparing for the wonderful wedding of teresa+casey. they both have family in california, but are actually living in new york so it’s a semi-destination wedding for them. we will be in norcal quite a bit this year so we’re starting to get used to the mild weather here. i remembered to bring a jacket this time – norcal is cold!

tomorrow we will film their wedding, get some shut eye and then head straight down to vegas for the annual WPPI conference. later this month we will also be flying out of the country, but more on that later. we have email access, but our responses will likely be a bit slower so thanks in advance for your patience.

we met up with j+t this weekend for their ttd session at some railroad tracks and had a ton of fun. there were a few no trespassing signs nearby, but i just could not pass up an opportunity with a backdrop like that. so since i’d rather ask for forgiveness than permission, we jumped in and had a blast – even the neighbors across the street seemed to enjoy it. by the end of the afternoon we had a small audience and cars honking their horns as they drove by. i mean, come on…j in her gorgeous dress and t with his hat and tie. fabulous. amy is going to send me some more images to share, but here’s a teaser for now : )
