HIDE ‘N SEEK

June 24, 2010

it was a rather hot day at the park and we didn’t have much time to do this, but we had a ton of fun with these little guys. we wanted to keep it genuine and not ask the kids to do anything out of the ordinary so i wasn’t sure what we’d come out with – if anything at all. it was father’s day weekend and we thought it would be very fitting to tell the story of a child’s pureness, joy and innocence through cinema.

since they were playing hide ‘n seek, we thought it would make for a neat entry for a short film challenge our friends at stillmotion are hosting. you can check out their post and other top entries on their education blog. i would love to hear your thoughts on this piece.

we had the privilege to work with zachary lucky a couple weeks ago in toronto and what an amazing experience it was. i’ve always loved his stuff, but hearing him live gave me a whole new appreciation for his music. we produced a music video for this song and recorded the audio track separately at the studio before going out to film. it was done all in one take and i’ve been listening to it ever since. this song was inspired by his travels through ontario and it certainly makes me love canada even more.

a side story. during the shoot we got into a little bit of trouble for being on the train tracks. we knew there wasn’t any danger and we always kept a lookout, but nonetheless got written up for it. was it worth it? of course. sometimes, we rather ask for forgiveness than permission. here’s my souvenir.

while i was editing the piece in the hotel room i wasn’t quite sure what to put in for the title so i walked over to zach’s room and realized he didn’t either. o’ ontario was named right then and there – in room 124. how cool is that? although i already have the live recording on my hard drive, i can’t wait for zach’s next album.

music by zachary lucky. check out more of his work on withetiquette .

OPEN HOUSE

February 8, 2010

last week we attended an open house event for some of our friends in the industry and it was a smashing night. i always have a camera by my side so i shot a few photos from that night to share here on the blog. the team from sky boy productions put the event together and jack from tmmpro rocked the room with awesome lighting.

the talented euri from fleuretica took care of the gorgeous details and floral pieces that made the place glow. come on, mason jars, the flowers and that awesome ‘love’ sign above the yummy goodies. lovely indeed.

the most scrumptious, yummy cakes by none other than cakesbythepound and the best macaroons by joie pastisserie. i admit it, i must have had at least two pieces each. so. incredibly. delicious. we also got to chat a bit with caroline tran in her cute new office.

it was jammed packed in there with a couple hundred folks, but they still managed to send us home with a big swag bag full of coolness. m&m’s, cotton candy, calendar and a ceremony magazine just to name a few. guess what i’ve been nibbling on all last week while editing? : )

IOU | KELLY * JOHNNY

November 20, 2009

If there’s one thing that we can wish for at every wedding it would be energy. There’s nothing quite like it because when you’re excited, we get excited and get even more inspired. It’s so vital to what we do and why we love filming so much. They say laughter is infectious and we can certainly vouch for that. Kelly has an amazingly vibrant personality and it’s well, infectious. So much so that it wipes away the usual anxiousness and stress that’s a part of so many weddings. The day was longer than usual and involved a ton of traveling, but her energy carried all of us through to the end.

Here’s a bit of their day from earlier this summer – as you can see, full of laughter and surprises, well…sort of  :o)

cast * international
details * fantabulous

When your groom has a name like Dragos does, you know the wedding is going to be awesome. To top that, Mary is the queen of details – which you only get a glimpse of for now. Check out some of these teasers – can you say cake topper cuteness?!

I absolutely love the preps session at every wedding. There’s just something about the energy, excitement and anticipation that floods the room with life. It’s one of the best times of the whole day. She’s such a radiant bride.

They chose to do a first look before the ceremony and I love the emotions that come with it. Confidence. Anticipation. Excitement. And of course, love. There’s nothing quite like it.

Mom was so, so proud of Mary. She told me she was really nervous about giving a speech during the reception, but when she went up there and gave a rather touching toast – you would have never known.

Gorgeous florals were done by Leslie of PixiesPetals. Big thanks goes out to Jennifer Yamauchi (jennyamauchi@gmail.com) for coordinating the event and ensuring everything went smoothly. And again, thanks to Amy for shooting with us that day. Good times!
